Fells Point Corner Theater is extraordinarily proud to bring to its stage not only a Baltimore Premiere but the National Premiere of David Johnston's translation of Hamlyn, by Juan Mayorga.
In the search for truth, whom do you trust? Hamlyn is a beautiful city that glitters by day—but at night the rats emerge. A wealthy citizen is accused of buying sexual favors from a young, disadvantaged boy. However as the plot unravels, it becomes increasingly difficult to discover the reality of what actually happened in Hamlyn.
Playwright, Juan Antonio Mayorga Ruano, is among the most renowned of the contemporary Spanish playwrights. He focuses on the “underbelly of life,” combining his social-historic reflections as a philosopher with his keen sense of humor and drama. His plays transcend national barriers, have been translated into over twenty-five languages and are performed in Europe’s principal theaters and throughout the world.
“Hamlyn...is a mysterious detective story of twisted relationships where nothing is what it seems—a gripping modern take based on the tale of the Pied Piper.”

"“Hamlyn” confronts the ideas of motivation and power and challenges the notions of guilt and innocence, and the thin veil that can sometimes shroud both, rendering them indecipherable at face value."

"Go watch “Hamlyn” and contemplate such uncomfortable paradoxes. The minimalist set, straightforward acting and gentle-handed direction leaves plenty of breathing room to do so."
- Erik Zygmont, Editor for The Baltimore Guide
DIRECTOR: Barry Feinstein
CAST: Helenmary Ball, Candice Fabian, Kali Jones, Jim Knost, Sammie Real, Debbie Stuehler, Tavon Vinson, Karim Zelenka, Klodina Morina, Lucie Poirer and Mike Zemarel.
